It’s a Boy!

Yesterday, after waking up to find out that the Duchess of Cambridge, Kate Middleton had gone into labour early in the morning, I spent the whole day glued to Sky News, waiting for the birth announcement! After what seemed like forever, it was finally announced at 8.30pm that Kate had given birth to a baby boy at 4.24pm. I’m quite glad they kept everyone waiting a few extra hours, as I quickly nipped out to the Post Office at 4.20pm, and it would have been typical if I missed it after waiting all day! Huge congratulations to the Duke and Duchess! Baby Cambridge is yet to be named (officially anyway) but the other night I dreamt that Kate would give birth to a boy, which they named Alexander, so I put a £1 bet on it, at 66/1!

So, to celebrate the birth of the royal baby, I had to do some themed nails.

Obviously, as the baby was a boy, I went for blue, I used Nails Inc Kensington Park Road (quite appropriate as the Duke and Duchess will be moving in to Kensington Palace with the new Prince!) and over this I added Nails Inc Royal Arcade nail jewellery (also appropriately named!) For the Union Flag, I used Barry M Blue Grape, the white Models Own nail art pen, and Andrea Fulerton Stripe & Sparkle Ann. As the baby is a Prince, and third in line to the throne, I had to add a crown, and I used Barry M limited edition gold.

Now I’m just waiting for William and Kate to leave the hospital for the first glimpse of their bundle of joy (which will hopefully be named Alexander!)

Angel Wings

Behind door number 6 of the Mini Mani Month, we have Angel Wings. This has actually been on my wish list for a while, but every time I went to purchase it, it was out of stock!

Angel Wings is a pearly white shimmer. I don’t wear white polish that often, and when I do it’s usually only for nail art, it looks too much like Tipp-Ex for me, so this is the perfect alternative, it’s so pretty and shimmery! It matches the weather outside at the minute with all the snow and frost we have!

I found I needed four coats for full coverage, and you do have to be careful when applying this, as brush strokes are very prominent. It also looks a lot better in person than in pictures.

I think this polish would be a great alternative to a French manicure for a wedding, and it’ll definitely make a great base for a lot of different polishes.

I’d also like to congratulate the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge after they announced Kate is expecting their first baby. I’m a huge fan of the Duke and Duchess, and adore Kate’s style, if I had the chance to raid anyone’s wardrobe it would have to be hers! I wish her all the best, and I hope she doesn’t suffer with hyperemesis gravidarum for too long, as it sounds like an awful thing to go through.
