Christmas Nail Art

I thought it was time I finally did some Christmas nail art! I got my inspiration from Pinterest, and a couple of nails are similar to what I did last year.

I used Barry M Retro Red, Models Own Nude Beige, Nails Inc Culross Street, and Jess French White, along with the Models Own nail art pens, and acrylic paint for the detail, topped with a coat of HK Girl.

I’m really happy with how they turned out, especially the Christmas lights!

Halloween Nails

A few days ago, my cousin asked if I would do her nails for Halloween, so I went looking for a few ideas, and practised some on a nail wheel. I did a few last year, but tried out a few different designs this year.

I decided to do my own nails as well while I was on, and this was what I came up with.

I think the only one I was a little disappointed with was the ‘Boo!’ on my right hand, because I’m right handed and struggled to write it with my left!

And these are how I did my cousins nails.

For both mine and my cousins, I used Barry M Block Orange and Black, Models Own Purple Blue, Pukka Purple and Snow White and Ciate´Mojito. I also used Barry M Lychee and red acrylic pain for the dripping blood on my little finger, and I used OPI Dutch ‘Ya Just Love OPI? for the base on my cousins right ring finger. For all of the details I used the Models Own nail art pens.

The ‘patchwork’ nail was inspired by The Nailasaurus, check out the tutorial here.

Have you done any Halloween inspired nails? I love all the possibilities there is!

Edinburgh Zoo

On Tuesday, one of my friends and I had a day trip to Edinburgh, to visit Edinburgh Zoo. Obviously, I had to have appropriately themed nails, and I took my inspiration from Pinterest. Unfortunately I didn’t get a picture on my camera before the battery died, so I had to take one on my iPhone.  I used the Models Own Ice Cream Sundae collection as the bases, then used acrylic paint and the Barry M nail art pens for the details.

I also wanted to share some of my highlights from the zoo. You may or may not be aware that there is the possibility that the zoo’s female panda, Tian Tian, could be pregnant. Because of this, she has chosen to be ‘off show’ a lot over the last couple of weeks, so a lot of visitors hadn’t seen her, and the male panda, Yang Guang, has also been under the weather, and has spent a lot of time off show recently, whilst being more active at night. When we arrived at the zoo we were told there was no panda viewings (you have an allocated time slot) but instead you were able to go whenever you wanted, as many times as you liked. This worked out well for us, as we headed straight for the Panda enclosure, and luckily, Tian Tian was out.

Unfortunately Yang Guang was choosing to be off show, but I was glad we got to see Tian Tian, I’d have been disappointed to go all that way and not see one of them!

I was also excited to see the king penguins, emperor penguins are my favourite, and king penguins are like a mini version of them!

We also got to see the penguin parade which I absolutely loved! I can’t post the videos on here, but if you would like to see them, they’re on my instagram.

Then, after a tiring walk up a big hill, we had a stunning view, it was definitely worth it!

We headed back down the hill, and as we got to one of the five monkey enclosures, the squirrel and capuchin monkeys were being given some apples, which was fun to watch, and I love monkeys! (Although I was disappointed there wasn’t a capuchin called Marcel!)

I loved seeing the chimpanzees too, it was the first time I had seen any, but as they were all inside, all of my pictures were a little blurry.

Once we were done in the zoo we had a walk up to Edinburgh Castle, although we didn’t see much as entry is £16 (we’d also missed last entry, but I wouldn’t have paid that anyway!) so we made our way back down, and I got this shot of the castle as we were on our way to Nandos.

I had a great day, my poor legs and feet were aching the next day though, I could barely move them!

Also, don’t forget to check out my giveaway if you haven’t already, there’s still 10 days left to enter.

Paisley Gradient

I’ve been lacking inspiration for nail art recently, I’m not the most artistic person, so I usually take inspiration from others and change them to suit me. My inspiration for this manicure was from WAH Nails.

I started off with two coats of Models Own’s Snow White as a base for my gradient, then sponged on Models Own Beth’s Blue (the light blue) and Barry M’s Blue Grape.

For the paisley print, I used the white Model’s Own nail art pen, as much as I love how easy the Barry M nail art pens are, I just couldn’t get a thin enough line with them.

I used acrylic paint for the flowers on my ring finger, and the black Barry M nail art pen.

Merry Christmas

Merry Christmas everyone!

I’ve set this post to post itself so I hope it works! I just wanted to wish everyone a Merry Christmas, and I hope you all have a great day!

Here is my Christmas Day nail art, snowflakes, Santa Claus and Rudolph. I used Ciate´Mistress, Models Own Snow White, Barry M Red Glitter and Nude, and the white Models Own nail art pen. For Santa and Rudolph I used acrylic paint.

Snowmen, Snowflakes & Southampton

For the weekend, I did some more Christmas nail art. I’m a little obsessed, and I’ve had my Christmas Day nail art planned for a few days! I didn’t want to do anything too fancy, so I went for a snowman accent finger, and snowflakes. I used Barry M Silver foil effects, Models Own Snow White, Models Own white nail art pen, and acrylic paint for the snowman.

On Saturday, I had a 4.30am wake up, followed by a 6 hour bus journey to Southampton, St. Mary’s being the 39th football stadium I’ve visited. Always nice to tick off a new one, even if it is 300 miles away!

Thankfully, the long journey was worth it, and Sunderland won 1-0, with another goal for Steven Fletcher!

They were a very important 3 points for us, especially with some of the games we have coming up. It also meant we could have a bit of a Christmas party on the bus home, plenty of drinks and food, and songs!

Tomorrow I’m going to catch up with the remaining days of the Mini Mani Month, then relax for Christmas, I can’t wait!

Christmas Nail Art & Acrylic Paint

Lately, I’ve seen a few blogs mention using acrylic paint for nail art, when I was looking for ways to use my nail art brushes, and I found this fab blog, Polish Art Addiction, which has some of the most amazing nail art I’ve seen, including some super cute Disney ones, and a lot were done using acrylic paint. So I had to get myself down to Tesco, and got a set of 12 acrylic paints, for £4.50. Whilst mine won’t be anywhere near as good as Leslie’s, I’m definitely looking forward to experimenting with them.

I spotted this design on Pinterest, by IHaveACupcake whilst I was looking for Christmas inspiration and loved it. So, armed with a few bottles of nail polish, brushes, and my new acrylic paint, I got to work!

Thumb to little finger: Nails Inc Portland Place, Ciate´Mistress, Nails Inc Seven Dials, Models Own Snow White, Barry M Mushroom.
